This chapter opens with a flashback to the beginning of the novel, in which Mr.reaper, the doctor, and the Black Magic Girl, the witch, are discussing the possibility of Mr. Rouncewell's leaving the hospital. The flashback shows the two of them discussing their mutual desire to stay in the hospital, and Mr. Rafer's desire to leave. The two are interrupted by the arrival of a black magic girl, who tells them that she has come to see them. She asks them if they would like to see each other again, and they both agree that it would be a good idea.
