This chapter opens with a conversation between the professor and the cook. The professor tells the cook that he'd rather have sex with a woman than a man. The cook agrees, saying that she's a good cook, but that if she were his wife, she'd cook every day. She apologizes, saying she'll protect her grandfather if he ever wanted her to leave. When the professor's grandfather comes in, the cook apologizes and says he's in a hurry and needs to talk to his grandson. The grandfather tells him to stay in the room and wait until the master and the girl have cooled off.
