In this chapter, we are introduced to our heroine and her boyfriend, who are going on a date. The two of them are in the middle of eating a parfait at an aquarium when the narrator interrupts them to announce that they are "a couple" and that they will be taking a seat together. We learn that the two are very excited to be together, and that the parfait is very popular with "couples" because it is so good-looking. The narrator tells us that she cannot sleep at all the previous night because she was so excited to see her boyfriend. She is happy to be able to eat the parfait with him, because it makes her feel like she is his "girlfriend" . She wonders if she is special, but the narrator assures her that she is, and she wonders if it would make her jealous if other girls were nice to her.
