About This Chapter
Athabadze sees the poppa guns in the distance, and he realizes that they are not his own, and that they belong to the enemy. He asks why they listened to their father, and the answer is that they were listening to a man who hates himself, and who is a traitor to them all. He tells his father that if he were to leave the country, his mother would die, and his son would be killed by the boys in the army. The poppa tells him that he can only make one lamb a month, and then he will have to kill nine times before he can make a lamb again.
