About This Chapter
When the wolf returns home, he moans about the murders he's committed. He doesn't care what anyone thinks of him. He's just doing it for himself. He asks if anyone knows how he got to the bottom of the boat, or if he has any food or water. He wants to know if anyone has heard of him, and if he knows how to kill thirty people. He also asks if there's any way he could have gotten there without anyone noticing. He says that he woke up alone on the deck three days ago, tied to the boat's bottom, and didn't know where he'd been or what he was doing. He wonders if the knife he used to kill the bird was an aluminium knife, or a paring knife like the one the girl on the boat uses. He then asks if the experience of killing people is worth it. He tells the story of waking up on a boat with dead men. He swears that he killed the bird, but then he remembers that he poisoned the woman, and she doesn1t die. He thinks that the weirdest thing he has ever heard is a trade secret: a spy fork. The spy fork? It was a spy knife, he says, and it killed thirty people, but he can't figure out how he did it. Sometimes he dreams about the man who comes to tell him things, and then the man goes, and he doesn1T know how it all happened.
