About This Chapter
The youngest son of a Ming family in Zheshan, a village in Henan province, is bragging that he has a jar of "rare true beast blood" in his possession. The elder son of the Ming family, a senior of the clan, is also bragging about his claim to the blood, but the younger son is not interested in the fight. He thinks that the elder son is just a bunch of "cowardly bandits" who are trying to "make a big deal" out of the "old willow sacrificial spirit" . The younger son, however, is more interested in playing with his brother, who is "just a little impulsive" and "master is greater" than his older brother. The Ming family is worried that the "sacrificed spirit" of the village will be taken by the "ignorant frogs" , and they worry that the noise of the crowd will scare the villagers away. They also worry about the appearance of a "craveling dragon" in the sky, which is believed to be a remnant of the ancient sacrificial spirit.
