About This Chapter
In this wasteland, the beasts are rampant, and poisonous insects abound. Gogogo exclaims, "in this great wasteland, beasts are everywhere bam! to bam!" He is referring to poisonous insects, which are everywhere in the wasteland. He is also referring to the rumbles of the beasts, which sometimes cause the earth to shake and sometimes cause a powerful male animal to fight for dominance. He exclaims that the sky is not the same as the underworld, and that even if it were worn out, its majesty would never be shaken. He wonders if this is where the body of the ancient lion is buried. He tells his uncles to get back to the village immediately, because there is absolutely nothing they can't do with the body. They agree to come and observe the body from a distance. They are afraid that the fierce beasts will rush to find the body, and so they must not move. They also fear that even people from far away villages will also rush to the site to find it. They fear that if they act rashly, they will end up like the beasts. They hear a huge rumble, which they believe to be the sound of a big giraffe.
