In this chapter, the narrator tells us that he's been having an affair with his wife's husband, who is also the wife of Hiroki's friend. He's not sure what's going on, but he does know that Hiroki and his wife have been having sex for a long time. The narrator says that he wants to be like Hiroki, but that he can't be like his wife because she's having sex with Hiroki. He tells the story of how he and Hiroki went camping together and how they looked like they were in heaven. He says he'd feel bad if he had told his wife about it, so he didn't tell her about it. He also says that, even though they're in a sexual relationship, they don't have to keep it a secret. He doesn't want his wife to know about it either, because he wants her to be happy.
