In this short scene, the two young lovers, jing and nanfei, return to their hotel in the northern U.S. Ski resort, where jing has taken nanfeng on a skiing trip. Worried about his friend, who has run away, feifei tells jing that he wants to go home and sleep, but jing tells him to go check on the woman, who he thinks is a friend of his own. When jing returns home, he discovers that his mother has just woken up from a long illness, and he and jing must return to San Francisco immediately.
