In this chapter, the narrator tells Senior Oyang that he has something important to tell him. He tells him that he is in love with Senior, but that he does not know why. He says that his parents are quarreling more and more, and that they will fall apart sooner or later. The narrator says that he will take care of the family and make them happy. He also tells the family that they are going to France for a vacation, and he tells them that they should take their time getting along with Oyang, as he is a "good boy" and they should get along well. He then tells them to get out of the house quickly or else he will teach them a lesson. He explains that the family has borrowed money from the yongyongo gang, and they will never be able to pay it back. The company is in trouble, and the loan has already been paid off, so they left the narrator alone. He wants to live, but he knows that death is his only hope. He begs Oyang to come and save him.
