When the chapter opens, the narrator is in despair. He tells his sister that he has been pushed into the abyss. He asks her if she is alright, and she tells him that she is fine. She asks him if there is anything wrong with the magazine that he gave her before, and he tells her that there is something wrong with it. When the narrator asks if she wants to leave the gang, she says that she does not want to leave because she is still in love with Si. She says that Si probably does not remember her anymore, but that she still wants to see how he is. She tells her sister that she no longer has the ability to be happy, and that she wishes she could escape from the gang. Si tells her to stay with him, but to know how to get out of the country. Si says that if she escapes, she will get no money, so she will have to go to the United States. Si warns her not to get too close to Si, because he already has a lover.
