The next morning, the doctor tells the men that he has to go to the hospital immediately. He tells them that he is worried that his wife will catch a cold, so he is staying at the mansion. When the men return, they find out that the doctor has ordered another round of blood transfusions. The doctor is shocked, because he had planned to give his wife her own blood, but she has already given it to another woman. The men are shocked, too, because the doctor had told them that the woman had asked him to give her his own blood. They are horrified, and the doctor begs them to shut the trap. He says that he tried to stop the woman, but that she is now asking him to do the same thing. He asks her to explain why she is asking him for his blood, and she says that she wants to die if he does not give her her own. She says that if she does not, she will be homeless, and that she has no place for such a woman.
