The narrator tells us that he and Geon are best friends because they trust each other to achieve their goals. They're both good friends, but they don't have the same goals in life. Geon is getting scouted for high school varsity teams, and the people in his community think he'll go pro. The narrator says he'd always dream about playing alongside him one day, but he doesn't want to be a good enough player to play alongside him. He's lonely because his parents are always on the road, and he's never had anyone to talk to about his life. He asks if it would be weird if he kissed another boy, but his dad says no.
