Back at the embassy, Dostoevsky tells Martiri that he's called back to see his mom. Martiri wants to know why he hasn't been able to find anything in his training materials about people drifting away from the future. He's been reading the training materials for thirty days, and he can't figure out what's going on. The only thing he can figure out is that there's no indication that people are going to be killed in the future, just an "ordinary day." Martiri asks if the transition was difficult, and Martiri says that it was. You've got to remember that what you do is important, and that's what they're trying to do here in the U.S. They've been keeping track of the time streams, and they've noticed that some people seem to be leaving Bejing and going to China, but Martiri doesn't want to rule out that possibility. The latest anomaly to the time stream showed up here, Martiri tells us, and it's the same one that showed up at the end of the previous chapter: the assassination of kennedy. The best way to save Oswald is to go directly to the assassination site.
