In this chapter, the young narrator tries to make sense of what has just happened to him. He's heard a door slam shut, and he's been in the middle of a sexual encounter with his step-mother. He hears her screaming in pleasure, but he can't figure out how he could have done this to her. He wonders how his father would react if he found out that he was using his money to have sex with younger men. He also wonders how he'd react if his father found out he was having sex with a younger man. The young narrator tells us that sex is a "sacred thing," but he doesn't want to use it to his advantage. He says he'll see his father later, and then he tells us about the sex he had with his stepfather. The narrator says that he acted as if the sex didn't interest him in front of his stepfather, but honestly, that was not the way he felt. He wants to hurry up and get the heck out of there. He knows that his stepfather has plans, and so he wants to see what he can do.
