About This Chapter
"The Frozen Water Looked Like A Mirror" is the title of this chapter. It's a reference to the fact that the water looked frozen when it was frozen, and when it thawed, it shattered. The narrator is worried that something will go wrong with Jack's trick-or-treating plan. He's afraid that Jack will copy people's costumes, but that they won't be able to do as much as Jack can. He promises that he'll keep up the good work, and they'll work together to make sure that everyone's costume is exactly the same. "Busy day again" , the narrator tells us. He and Jack are working on their pumpkins, but they're not nearly as good as they were the day before. He tells the narrator that Jack came by the morning before to check on the pumpkins, and he seemed happy to see them. He said that only half of them were good, and that they'd be fine the next day. He left, and the narrator goes to talk to him. He asks where the baneberries are, and she tells him that they sent her for her potions. She says that she hasn't seen the ghost yet, but she's sure that she'll see her soon. The ghost looks exactly like the narrator.
