The scene opens with a toast from Mr. Kamagai, the head of the client service department. He tells us that it's rare for a client to come out to a drink party, and that even the client's department head is there. He says that he can't be there because he's too drunk, but that he'll be there anyway. He's not sure what's going on, but he does know that his boss is there, too. He also says that the other day, his boss sent him a picture of himself in a sadist pose, which makes him even more sad. He asks why he was so sad the day before, and he says that it was because he was too drunk to go to work that day. He blames the alcohol for making him so sad, and says that if he hadn't run away, he wouldn't have been so sad.
