The narrator wakes up in the middle of the night to find that the house is a mess. The smell of burnt coals is everywhere, and the smell of rat urine is all over the place. The narrator tries to clean up the mess, but the smell is so overpowering that he can't even do it. He's so grossed out by the smell that he thinks he's been in an abandoned building. He wonders if the guy was bothered by what he said.
