This chapter's epigraph comes from a conversation between a pimp and a prostitute. The prostitute tells the pimp that he's been having an affair with her and that she's pregnant. The pimp tells the prostitute that she can have sex with any man she wants, but she can't do it if she doesn't have to work. She tells him that if he wants to have sex, he should go to bed and get some sleep. She's not going to let him have sex if he'll work hard enough to get her pregnant.
