In this chapter, we learn that the "unmitch" of the island has fallen in love with "the sea way" of capturing her. She has been sleeping with him, and he knows this. He asks her what else she wants from him. She tells him that she is not breaking up "taka fu" with him. He tells her that he has forgiven her, and that she can stay with him as his girlfriend. She asks him how long he is going to be cleaning the bath. He says that there is still time for the first ferry to come. He wants to know where she is, and asks her to tell him where the ferry is coming from. When she does not answer, he tells her to go in "grit wait" for the ferry.
