About This Chapter
The narrator tells us that the surgery went very well, and that his grandfather is accompanying him to the hospital. The narrator says that it's been fifteen years since he was an intern at the hospital, and he's happy to be there. He tells us about the day he came back from Afghanistan, when it was snowing heavily. He thought that if the doomsday came, it would be nice to be able to redo something in the future. He says that if he stayed in America, he'd earn a lot of money and be safe and secure. He asks if he ever lied to her, and she says that he picked up her stuff but pretended to not know that she was a thief. She says that she's forgiven him, so he should stop talking about the stuff he stole. The rain has stopped, and the narrator says he'll stifle a smile now that the rain is gone.
