This chapter opens with a series of exchanges between the two women. The first is between the doctor and the nurse, in which the doctor accuses the nurse of being obsessed with him. The nurse replies that the doctor is obsessed with her because she claims to be a master. The second exchange concerns the doctor's conversation with the nurse about the cake that he bought for her. The doctor apologizes to the nurse for causing trouble in his life and work. He says that if he had met the nurse earlier, he would not have had to go through what he has gone through.
