When Chingruio notices that his brother is growing taller, he curses him and tells him to stop looking at him just because he's an inch taller. He's still his big brother, he says, and he'll make his sister one of his own. He also says that zhenzhen, his sister, is part of his family, and they say "I love you" when they say it to each other. He doesn't want to get into school because of his brother's comments, so he orders his notebook to be cleaned up and he tells his sister to take a poetry test to see if she can repeat a line from the Song of the Forest. He tells her to ignore her elders and listen to the wise words of a man instead of listening to another man's words. He promises to have dinner for her.
