The next morning, Dr. Rivers is surprised to see that the patient is still alive. He tells Rivers that he will have to go back to his own body for a few days. Rivers says that his mother tried to raise him by herself, but that it will be difficult for her to do so now that she has someone else to take care of her. Rivers asks the patient if he would like to pay with his body. The patient says that he would, but then he realizes that he has been holding onto his body for 49 days.
