In this chapter, we learn that the young woman is a nymphomaniac who wants nothing more than a kiss and a pound of sugar. The young woman's sexual urges are so intense that she can't sleep at night. She's obsessed with thoughts of sex and desires that cause her distress. We learn that she's also a hypochondriac, meaning that she has no idea what's wrong with her body. She doesn't know how to get rid of these thoughts and desires, so she'll have to find another way to get them out of her system.
