This chapter opens with a soliloquy by Ling'an, in which he laments the fact that he has not been able to kill any of the "villains" he has been sent to kill. He laments that the "shennong gang has behaved arrogantly" for so long, and he wishes that he could die with the "green dragon's" body, which is covered in "venom" . He then goes on to say that he wants to meet in the "netherworld" with his lords. He tells them that they have been waiting for the return of Lord Ling, who has not yet returned. He asks zhengdianyu if it is proper for a subordinate to disobey an order. .
