This chapter's epigraph comes from a conversation between the monk and the master of the meditation hall. The monk asks the master if they could borrow the demon's power. The master replies that they could, but that the demon is "strong beyond reason" and has a "reckless nature" . They'll have to disguise themselves as "changan" later in the day.
