Tsumugimada is twenty-eight years old and has just returned from a long vacation. He tells us that he went back to his hometown hoping to "remedy his broken heart" . He says that his childhood friend is three years younger than he is, and that they used to work together in the same shop. He adds that he hasn't felt "calm and at ease" in a "long time" , and says that he's going to close the shop if the man doesn't come back soon. He's been working late, he says, because he didn't want to wait for the man to come back and think of it. He also says that the man is his friend, not his lover, and he apologizes for being rude to him. He admits that he can't continue working like this forever, because the man he was with was married, with kids, and a superior at work, so he had to stay away from him for a long time. He is glad that he finally got to see his friend. He promises that he will come back tomorrow.
