About This Chapter
This chapter opens with a description of a man who comes to a flower shop every month to buy flowers. The narrator tells us that the man is polite and asks for a bouquet of flowers, but that the second time the man comes he does not seem to remember the first time the narrator gave him a bouquet. He says that he looks forward to the day every month because his grand mother died a year ago. He tells the narrator that his mother loved flowers, and that she died last year. He asks the narrator to tell the man about her mother's death, and the narrator tells him that the reason he comes to the flower shop is to talk to him about her death. She says that she came because she wants flowers for herself.
