About This Chapter
The chapter opens with a soliloquy by Dostoevsky's protagonist, Alek, in which he asks Alek to "go on a date" with him. Alek confesses that he has had a "dream" and that he is "about to say hi" , but he manages to "escape" from the dream. He tells his friend, Amami, that he will be returning to school that afternoon. Asahina tells him that she will be on a "work trip" that afternoon, and Alek wonders if she would be happier if her messages sounded "normal" . He also tells Amami that he would like to visit a bakery near school, where he thinks asahina would be happy to see him. Amami asks Alek if he likes the bakery, and he replies that he does. He then tells her that he wants to tell sayuri that he likes her, but that if he confesses and she does not like him, they will still be working at the same place, and things will "get awkward"
