This is a locked chapterVol.1 Chapter 3: Rumors (Part 1)
About This Chapter
The narrator tells us that the art teacher she's been hanging out with is the kind of guy who makes advances on students. We learn that he's a member of the art club where the narrator is a member. The art teacher and the club advisor are going to a van Gogh exhibit for the club. The exhibit is empty, so the teacher drops by to grab a bite to eat. The teacher catches the stomach flu, wanders off to the optometrist's office, and gets caught in an eating contest halfway through watching the teacher eat. So the teacher gets caught up in the eating contest, and the two of them go to have cake together. The narrator doesn't know what to make of the two working women in the exhibit, but she does know that they're awkward to her. She's not sure that the two women are on good terms, though, because she thinks they've been on bad terms for so long that they can't really be friends. The two women have been meeting up the whole time, but the narrator thinks it's awkward because she just met up with her ex-boyfriend five years ago. The girls are having lunch together, and she thinks that the women are having an "amuddled lunch" together because they have a lot on their minds.
