About This Chapter
Chapter 4 inflection point The narrator tells us that he likes Souya. He says that he's known her for a long time, and that he started liking her before they were even born. He adds that he doesn't think he could find a better ally than Souya, but he can't really trust him. He asks if she's trying to suggest that they work together, and she says no. She says that she has a test tomorrow, so she'll be able to tutor him. The narrator says that the first question on the test is very difficult, and he suggests that they just use simultaneous equation to solve the problem. He also says that cramming for a test is bad for you, because it makes you feel like you're wasting your time. He tells her that she shouldn't have to take a break from her studies, because they're just cramming for the exam. She tells him that she'd rather have a daydream to power through her studies than to have to cram for an exam or something. She then says that if she had a daydream, she would go right ahead and have a good time with her friends, and then she would have to stop studying so she could have a drink. She adds that she wants to make sure that she looks good next to her friends. She wants to look good, she says, because she wants them all to look alike. She also wants her to put herself on the same level as her friends so that she can look better. She asks if they can continue studying in the library, and they agree.
