In this chapter, Fang and his men discuss the events of the previous day's encounter with Su-chen. Fang says that Su-Chen taught the men a lesson: you're only as good as your last act, and you can't be complacent. He tells the story of how, when Fang was a kid, he worked hard to lose weight, but he couldn't because of an illness. He gave up on his quest to become a police officer, but found the detective community where he could solve murder cases and solve mysteries. He's become the only nine-star detective in the world, Fang tells his men. He thanks the men for blocking 9 bullets for him, and he's going to remember to return the 9 bullets to them. Fang tells the men that the fight was too sudden, and that they should have waited until the next day to watch the latest episode of the show. He also tells them that they're doing their job as fugitives, and they should be happy.
