In this chapter, Volger reveals his plan to defeat the centipedes. He wants to use the waves generated by the creatures to destroy the smaller ones first, and then use the larger ones to kill the larger creatures. He tells Volger not to push himself too hard, because he thinks the creature will think he's killed him. Volger says that the creature has been holding back because he doesn't know where Volger is going. He begs Volger to come back and help him.
