In this chapter, Tsukasa explains that he and his friends are in the gunma, a research facility in Gunma, Japan, where they are working on a new vaccine against the plague. The only place that remains is the Tokyo Dome, a large building in Tochigi, where people from all over the world come to stay during times of famine. He explains that at first the dome housed only about 9,000 refugees, but now it is home to 11,600. He says that the monsters are as strong as they are when they attack, and that he will have to grab the samples of the new vaccine from the lab and run to the dome.
