In this chapter, the artist describes his discovery of a cave at Carneval Creek. He finds a painting on a rock of a wolf and a map of an island. Three months later, he returns to the cave with his sketchbook, pencils, and extra lamp. He follows a path leading into the cave. He sees a painting that leads to another painting, and another. It looks like it's going to go on for several feet. The painting is telling the artist a visual story.
