This chapter opens with a conversation between a young woman and her father. The young woman tells her father that she wants to go back to the night city with her father to get medical treatment. When the young woman asks her father why he didn't make her soup the last time she tried it, he tells her that he wanted to give her a "trick to win sympathy" . When she tells him that she's going back, he says that he'll give her the land to use for medical treatment, and she'll be able to use it for her own good. She's worried that her father is going to refuse her, but he promises to try her best.
