In this short scene, we learn that Mamieon's voice is very weak, and she is afraid that she will be cursed at. She tells us that it is fine for her to feel bad about her mother, but not anything more than that. She says she will take responsibility if she is cursed at, and that she is not a goddess, but rather a "national whore" who has to do everything the people ask of her. She explains that if she wants something, she must do everything they want of her, whether it is a president, a rich man, or a woman. If she wants to strip, then she will strip. She promises to protect her, and says that she wishes she could just die, but that she has to live like this anymore. It is too late, she says, because she has fallen into the "quagmire." She promises that she can help him, and tells him that he must put down the knife, so that he will not have to swear at her again. She then tells him about her stepfather, who was "abnormal suspicious" of his mother, and how she had to run away from home when she did not want to live the way her mother had. She asks him if he will stay as "the national goddess," but he says that he only wishes to live a "normal life," and that all he needs is her.
