This chapter opens with a flashback to the events of the previous chapter, in which we learn that the three of them are in the middle of a battle against the Grim Reapers, and that the only way they can escape is to use their own strength. The narrator asks the three if they are planning to return to the battle, and the three reply that they are not planning to do so, but that they have agreed to temporarily control the body of their leader, who has agreed to let them do so. This is the first time that the narrator has seen the two of them together, and he is amazed at how quickly they have changed their minds. He wonders if the two men are still planning to kill each other, and wonders if they will be able to escape with their own power. The three men agree that it is too dangerous for them to escape from the Grim Reapers' hunt, and they are unable to do this with their current strength.
