In this chapter, we meet the protagonist, who tells us that he and his friend, arisa, have known each other since childhood. He tells us about their friendship and how they used to play together every day. When he met her, she was cheerful and liked to be around people who were happy. He thinks that she is a good girl, and he tells her that he thinks she is the best student in the class. He also tells her about the test scores she just took and how lucky she is to have gotten them. He says that he is going to beat her in the upcoming exam. He asks her why she came to the exam, and she tells him that she wanted to lose to another girl. She says that she was going to be on his side, and that she would always be there for him. She asks him if he will break his promise to her. He replies that he will, and asks her if she will break her promise to him as well. She replies that she will, but that she does not know when she will do so. He wonders if Akira is on Arisas side now, and wonders what he will do if he disobeys the king
