In this chapter, we learn that for five years, a war has raged between the "genetically modified labor force" and the "ruling class of terra" . In other words, the "crown" and "the religious arm" of terra have waged a war against the "generosity" of the people of the other planets. The two races have been fighting for the right to rule the rest of the world. The women of this chapter are the only ones who have been able to participate in the war. They're the ones who've survived it, and they're also the ones that have managed to survive it. The men of the chapter, however, are not so lucky. They don't even have the means to fight the war, so they've been forced to fight it on their own. They have no choice but to do it, because it's the only way they'll be able to stay alive.
