The young man, however, does not believe him. He tells the father that he has been drinking heavily and that his boyfriend does not trust him. When the father asks if he is drinking heavily, the young men reply that they are not. He says that he would marry a girl who was good at her job. The narrator then tells the story of how he fell in love with a man who was a waiter. The man was a good man, but he was not a good enough match for the young woman. She was not good enough for the man, and the man had to leave her. He had to go back to his job because he could not find a woman to marry him.
