In this final scene of the novel, Roxane laments the fact that so many of the women in the prison have been raped and mutilated. She tells Roxane that her family has lost its power over her, and that she is powerless to stop the evil men from taking over the world. She asks Roxane if she wants revenge on the women who have raped her. Roxane says that she does not want revenge on her mother or on the men who raped her, but that she would like to help the women escape from the clutches of the "monsters" who have taken over the prison. When Roxane refuses to help her, she tells him that she will fight with him.
