About This Chapter
Back at the inn, Rob is so proud of his son that he can't believe that he's not there to see him. He tells Zeke that he should have gone to town when he had the chance to see the bug, but the bug has gone. He asks the innkeeper if they should send someone over to check on the bug. The innkeeper tells him to go to the welcome desk. He says that the farm is bigger than a few little bugs. Rob says that he looks like the dead body of a man. He's a good man, he says, and the bug ate a bunch of pages. The old woman is inside, and she's telling him to get out of the room. The bug is down by the third-floor room, where the couple is sleeping. The couple tells Rob that they've woken up the people in the room, and they're going to rise up and become the children of god . Rob is happy that he and his dad are having a good day. He wants to talk to his dad, and he wants to know why they haven't given him the book they need. The narrator tells him that he was afraid of what the kids would say if they read it. He thinks maybe this book will help them.
