About This Chapter
The chapter opens with a description of what's going on in Las Vegas. It's the end of the first week of the new year, and we're starting to see signs that the old ways of doing things are dying. The narrator tells us that the city is going to be transformed into a "larger and better place than ever" with all the vendors, artists, and "rebels" that will be there. He also tells us about the upcoming "All-Ex" festival, which will take place in the city. He says that he's not sure what the plan is for the next week, but he does know that they're going to beat up all the people who donated money to the reaper. He tells the narrator that he has a plan to kill the monster lady, and he'll tell him a secret buddy. He'll get a drink of energy and tell him about the plan. They'll meet up with a buddy of theirs, and they'll kill the lady. He asks if he can borrow another 5000, and the narrator tells him that he can get a second 5000 if he keeps working hard. The two of them sit down and talk about the new plan, and then the narrator says that it seems to be going well. They ask the guy if he knows anyone who's been killing them. The guy says he doesn't, but the narrator assures him that it's just a matter of time before they find out who it is. They go up to the top of the building, where they hide out under the elevator. They don't know why they opened the doors, but they do know that the doors are supposed to be locked. They tell the narrator to come back down and hide out. He wants to know what the lasers and smoke bombs were supposed to look like. They say that they didn't promise to smoke them, but that's because he promised to shake a leg when he said they would. They get back down to the apartment, and when the narrator asks about the lasers, the narrator explains that they were meant to shake his leg. He then asks if they can pay him back for all the work he did
