The king finally sees the light. He apologizes to the ladies for leaving them all alone. He tells them that he is a pacifist and that he has employed many more scholars to improve the lives of the people. He has also given grants to medical scholars and has recovered the body of his son from his deathbed. He praises the king's sense of justice and says that he would have killed the ladies if they had won the war.
