The narrator asks the young man if he's sick, and the tutor explains that only a small number of people are willing to pay for private tutoring in the small town of Mando. The young man wants to know if the girl is using the excuse of being sick as an excuse for getting a tutor. The girl explains that she's not even sick and that she just wants to get a private tutor to help her with her homework. She's worried that the girl's house has ghost-like apparitions, and that her pouting and biting of her lips are the same things she'd done before. She asks if she can pray, and he says that he wants to pray, too, but he doesn't realize that she is praying earnestly. He asks if her prayers come true, and she says that they do.
