This chapter opens with a description of the night before, in which the ghost of a young woman, whom we now learn is named Moon, sneaked out of her hiding place and scared the young man. The young man is terrified, and the ghost tells him that they have to find a way to get rid of her before she does any more harm. He begs the young woman to leave, but she refuses, saying that she doesn't remember who she is.
