When the narrator is a child, his grandfather is a photographer who teaches him how to "take hello" and "springtime of life" . He tells the story of how his grandfather got sick when he was a kid, and how he couldn't go out of bed because he was taking pictures. The narrator tells us that he's about to move to a boarding house with strangers, and his grandfather warns him to be careful. He also tells the narrator that a professional photographer named Sakae mochizuki lives in the boarding house and teaches at the club where the narrator can join.
