In the meantime, Lan has married the daughter of the tutor, but the tutor refuses to approve the marriage. Lan blames Lan for everything that has happened to him, and he has become a censor. Lan tells Zhang that he has recovered, but that he does not believe in anything except the feelings between him and the tutor's daughter. He says that the plan that Lan has been working on is ready to begin. The attendants bring the traitors in, and Lan tells them that they are honored by his presence. He tells the attendants that the three traitors are not enough, and that there must be a fourth one. Lan says he has a plan, but he is unsure whether or not to execute it.
